April: Stress Awareness Month

Are you under too much stress?

The days are getting longer, the temperatures are rising, and nature is starting to grow and bloom again. But do you have time to enjoy these changes? Or do you suffer from stress and have too much on your mind to enjoy it?

This April Marel puts this Stress Awareness Month in the spotlight. We pay attention to five topics that can help you reduce stress in your daily life: sports, meditation, mindfulness, time management and sleep. Luckily Samen Sterk offers a wide range and tips on these topics:

1. Sports – Do you want to get acquainted with a new sport and discover it together with your colleagues? We have several introductory lessons for padel, running and (kick)boxing. Interested? Don’t wait too long because the introduction classes fill up quickly! Otherwise we will put you on the reserve list and you will soon hear more about your application.

2. Meditation– Maike Brinkhof, Service Delivery Manager within Marel and VerSTERKer, recommends the app ‘Calm‘. An easy app to switch off for a while through short meditations and breathing exercises. When you first start meditation, it can be hard to keep your focus. Following the voice of an instructor by following guided meditations might improve your focus when you first start meditating. The app provides guided meditations to help you sleep better, improve your focus, reduce stress or anxiety or to focus on self-improvement.

3. Mindfulness – How can you experience more peace in your daily life? The Mindfulness training will be given on May 9 from 9:30 am – 12:00 pm and will give you more insight into this. Mindfulness is a proven method to reduce stress, fatigue and insomnia. In addition, it can help with concentration problems and helps you to live more in the here and now. The idea of mindfulness is to learn to pay full attention to what is happening in the moment, without judging what you are doing or experiencing. Your mind will certainly wander once in a while, but that’s okay! Be kind to yourself and slowly bring your mind back to the moment. Curious about the experiences of other colleagues? Click here.

4. Time Management – Take control of your time and reduce stress around your schedule. Do you experience lack of time and an uneasy feeling about all the things that still need to be done? Do you have an overflowing mailbox and a busy agenda? And do you find it difficult to prioritize? By following the 1-day Time Management training you learn to put things back in order and to get more pleasure, control and peace at work. The Time Management training has been a success for years and is experienced very positively by many colleagues. This year we started training again. Sign up quickly!

5. Get enough sleep – Everyone knows how important sleep is, but what if enough sleep doesn’t come natural to you? During the training: ‘Never count sheeps again’, Merijn van Laar will teach you everything about sleep.  A good night’s sleep is essential for your mental health. In addition to quantity, the number of hours you sleep, the quality of your sleep is also important. Everyone has a bad night from time to time, but how can you sometimes sleep well and sometimes not? Sign up for this session and Merijn will be happy to explain it to you.
