Does stopping smoking for a day have any point?
Yes it most certainly does.  Stopping smoking for a short time has a positive influence on your health.  Did you know that even after 20 minutes you can notice the effect on your body; lower blood pressure and a slower pulse? After 24 hours your body has got rid of all traces of carbon monoxide.  This is a harmful gas which reduces the supply of oxygen to your internal organs. You will also be giving your body a chance to recover.

Stopping smoking for longer
The longer you refrain from smoking, the more benefits you will experience.  After two days all nicotine will have disappeared from your body. Your senses of taste and smell will improve.  After 72 hours you will notice that you have more energy and can once again breathe more freely.
