Tips and possibilities for carers

Caring for a parent, child, other family member or a friend who need help because of a disability, injury or illness often goes without saying.  It can, however, sometimes be a burden.  How do you combine caring with work?  How do you keep time for yourself?  How do you stop yourself becoming overburdened?  Take a look at the tips below.

What can you do as a carer within Marel:

  • If necessary, discuss your situation with your manager. A look can then be taken at what possibilities there are to come back into/remain in balance.
  • If necessary, make use of the various leave regulations such as for example emergency leave, short and long-term care leave.  Make a clear agreement with your manager.  Take a look at the possibilities under “In balance through work agreements with Marel on this Samen Sterk portal, under “Get to Work”.
  • Explain the situation to your colleagues.  Only by doing this will you get understanding and acceptance of your situation.
  • Also think of yourself.  Try to share care responsibilities with other family members or friends.
