Blog: do you want to take your workout outside? Read our tips

Summer has started. The sun is out, days are longer, and we feel more energized. Time to replace the musty, warm gym for some fresh air. Do you want to take your workout outside, but still need inspiration for outside activities? These tips will help you out.

Roller skating
Do you live in an area with many bike lanes or a park? This is ideal for roller skating. In your free time make a lap around the park or skate your way from A to B. In both cases, roller skating is a good way to be outside and exercise. It raises your heartrate and is a proper workout for your legs and bottom.

Go for a dive!
If you think the water is too cold during winter, then it might be an idea for summer. Swimming trains your entire body and helps you get into shape. Would you like to take it a bit further? Go for a morning dive. The cold water wakes you up and will prepare you to take on the rest of the day.

Bootcamp
Do you enjoy working out in a group under the supervision of a trainer? And using nature as your gym? Then bootcamp might be for you. This workout offers both strength and cardio exercises. This is often combined with games or small challenges to make the training more competitive. Do you want to join the Marel bootcamp? You can participate every Tuesday afternoon (16:30-17:30h). More information can be found here in the portal.

Go for a walk
Not everything has to be a heavy workout. Going for a walk is also good for your health. In the Netherlands there are many hiking paths. Think about the Dutch coastline or the Veluwe. More and more hiking events are being organized, both through nature and city centers. You might visit places you did not know yet. At https://www.outdooractive.com/en/hikes/5130/ you’ll find information about hiking trails and events in the Netherlands and hiking trips.

Kick some balls around
Are you competitive and not afraid of some competition? Challenge others for a game of soccer. Play soccer with your friends or colleagues after work. Or if the weather is nice, take a ball to the park or beach. You won’t get bored and it will help you lose some energy after a day of lying in the sun.
