FAQ Health Checks

I haven’t received an invitation email, what should I do?

Only employees employed by Marel Netherlands will receive an invitation. Temporary workers, interns, and employees outside the Netherlands are excluded from participation. If you are employed by Marel and haven’t received an invitation, please contact Adaptics via [email protected].

I cannot attend on the days when the bus is at my location, can I still participate?

Yes, you can! Once you have completed the online questionnaire in the Johan Portal, you will access the planning tool for the physical test. There, you can choose which Marel location you want to take the test at.

How can I cancel my appointment if I am sick or unexpectedly unavailable?

Please contact Adaptics (preferably at least 48 hours in advance) via [email protected] or at 088-0223877. Adaptics will assist you further.

How can I reschedule my appointment?

You can change your appointment in your account in the Johan Portal.

I have forgotten my login details, what should I do?

You created an account in the Johan Portal using your personal email address through the invitation. If you have forgotten your password, you can request a password reset link via the login page of the Johan Portal.

Do I need to inform my supervisor that I am participating?

No, the Health Check is anonymous, and you can decide whether to participate. However, to ensure that you can participate at the scheduled time, it may be helpful for a Field Service Engineer, for example, to inform their planner.

What does the online questionnaire entail?

The questionnaire covers your lifestyle, vitality, health, work environment, work ability, work experience, and work-specific risks. You can choose when to complete the questionnaire; it takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. The online questionnaire must be completed in full to schedule an appointment for the physical examination. After completing the questionnaire survey, you can immediately view a personal advisory report.

Where should I go for my appointment?

You can find the location and time of your appointment in the confirmation email. You received this appointment confirmation from the planning calendar after scheduling your appointment in Johan. Look for “Planning Calendar” as the sender.

The appointment confirmation states that I must fast for the physical test. What does that mean?

For the cholesterol and glucose tests, we kindly request that you (if possible) arrive fasting. This means you have not consumed any food or drink (except water and/or plain green tea) for three hours prior to the test. If you are unable to fast for any reason, please inform the vitality advisor.

What tests will I undergo?

During the Health Check, you will undergo the following tests:

  • Height, weight & BMI
  • Waist circumference & body fat percentage
  • Blood pressure & resting heart rate
  • Cholesterol & glucose
  • Eyes

Additionally, you can add one extra test of your choice*:

  • Hearing
  • Lung function
  • Stress (heart rate variability)
  • Fitness (bicycle ergometer test)
  • Musculoskeletal complaints (e.g., joints, muscles, bones, and nerves)
  • Urine analysis (glucose, protein, erythrocytes)

*For Manufacturing and Field Service, hearing, lung function, and musculoskeletal complaints are also standard in the Health Check. They can additionally choose stress, fitness, or urine analysis.

If you prefer not to undergo any of the tests, that’s okay. Please inform the vitality advisor during your appointment.

What is measured in the additional tests?

Hearing: during a hearing test, you’ll wear headphones and listen to tones to assess your hearing ability. We also check for any signs of ear damage due to excessive noise.

Lung function: In this test, you blow into a tube with your nose pinched shut to assess how well your lungs can inhale and exhale, and to detect any damage from factors like smoking or asthma.

Urine analysis: this examination looks at three values: blood (indicating infections), protein (indicating kidney damage), and glucose (indicating diabetes or overactive thyroid). It’s important to note that no diagnoses are made. If a test is positive, it’s always advised to see a doctor for further examination.

Musculoskeletal complaints examination: in this assessment, you’ll perform exercises and indicate if you feel any pain in areas such as your knee, ankle, hip, or neck to understand how these complaints affect your life.

Fitness test: tour fitness level is measured through a cycling test.

Stress test: an HRV (Heart Rate Variability) measurement assesses the time between heartbeats to determine your stress levels, resilience, and fatigue.

Do I need to inform beforehand which additional test I want to have performed?

No, that is not necessary. Determine for yourself which additional test you would like to have performed. You don’t need to inform us in advance; you can indicate this at the start of your physical test. If you want to have a urine test done, you can pick up a container from HR or reception. Bring your urine to the appointment.

Who conducts the physical test and the advisory session?
